In 2017, the CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) launched a consumer law investigation into hotel booking sites.
The investigation focused on hotel booking comparison sites and the clarity of the offers that they present to their visitors. It found a number of concerning issues with regards to misleading consumers which has led to a formal requirement for change by the 1st of September this year.
This is good news for consumers and the travel industry as it gives transparency for more accurate comparisons and ensurers travellers secure the best rates.
