Hotels & The Lone Female Traveller

Every year, Business Travel Direct undertakes a  number of Hotel RFP’s on behalf of its clients. This year, in recognition of increased awareness around the needs and concerns of lone female business travellers, we incorporated specific questions relating to this topic. The results were interesting;

  • 58% never allocate a room on the ground floor
  • 42% never allocate a room at the end of a corridor, or near a fire exit
  • 28% automatically upgrade a room on arrival to conform with the above
  • 46% offer to accompany female guests to the car park, especially when dark
  • 62% provide well lit car parking with CCTV
  • 70% ensure they never read out a room number at check in
  • 59% provide outward viewing peep holes in doors for added security
  • 68% never give out guests’ names or room numbers
  • 55% confirm that Health & Safety guidelines in place for staff on non-harassment of lone females

Of all the hotels involved, some 18 answered affirmatively to all nine questions, so well done to the following properties;
