It was recently confirmed by the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) that the ‘Summer Timetable 2019’ will have 1,000 new services added to it weekly, in efforts to reduce conjestion and increase efficiency. The timetable is effective from 19 May and some of the biggest changes include more peak services in and out of London on Southern Western Railway, direct services between Chester and Leeds and faster trains on some key Northern rail routes.
However, there are of course some concerns that by making such ambitious changes to the timetable in a bid to reduce conjestion, there will be inevetiable impact on punctuality and some teething problems, which in turn, can create further disruption for travellers. However, whilst the RDG accepts that this is likely upon the initial introduction of a new timetable, we are being assured that everyone will be ‘working together’ to improve it going forward. Stay tuned for further updates.
